Rockets stun Warriors to take 3-2 lead

Paul was injured in the fourth quarter of Thursday night’s victory that gave the Rockets a 3-2 lead in the Western Conference finals.

Down 96-94, the Warriors had an opportunity to go full court out of a timeout with 6.7 seconds remaining to tie or take the lead but squandered the possession when Draymond Green couldn’t handle an advance pass from Stephen Curry. Gordon recovered the loose ball. He left the game briefly and ended up scoring 10 points on 4-of-13 shooting in 39 minutes, well below his 19.4 points per game average this postseason. They’ll do whatever they can do.

He came through with the defending champions’ season on the line in another do-or-die Game 6, just as he did two years ago at Oklahoma City. If he isn’t, we have enough guys; it’s time for somebody else to step up.

Gordon tallied a team-high 24 points off the bench. So we have to make sure that we’re really focused and committed to playing the right way the whole game.

“Well, we’re going to have to do that.as a collective group, and there’s going to be moments that don’t go our way, and the minute you hang your head or the minute you lose your poise and try to hit home runs, that’s when it backfires on you”, said C’s coach Brad Stevens.

Klay Thompson knocked down nine 3-pointers on the way to 35 points, the Warriors held Harden down in the second half, and Golden State rallied from an early 17-point deficit to stave off elimination with a 115-86 victory over the Houston Rockets on Saturday night to force a deciding Game 7 in the Western Conference finals. Golden State also needs to keep on dominating the third quarter. Kevin Durant lead all scorers with 29, but it was some late sloppy play that handed the Rockets’ the critical win. We saw more tanking teams than ever this season, largely because of the Warriors as more teams than usual felt they had no chance right out of the gate. He just competes and plays. Houston is 0-of-6 from 3-point range, but Clint Capela is feasting inside with eight points. That served to ignite him.

There was skepticism regarding the Paul-Harden backcourt, but they’ve certainly figured it out, using defense to stop the Warriors and forcing them to play isolation basketball.

Thompson made a three-pointer after that and then officials reviewed Paul’s first basket of the quarter and ruled he got it off after the shot clock expired, leaving the Warriors ahead 80-79.

After combining for zero points on 0-of-4 shooting in the first quarter, Curry and Thompson started building momentum in the second and closed the half with 18 combined points.

Each team wound up with as many turnovers as assists.

While Thompson participated in all of morning shootaround, Iguodala participated in select portions of it. Iguodala participated in shooting drills at the end of morning shootaround, while Thompson watched game footage with Warriors assistant coach Chris DeMarco. Timberlake is in town to perform at the Toyota Center, while we all know J.J. Watt plays for the Houston Texans. That start time will be 9 p.m. EST. And while it may have been challenging for the team in Game 4 without Andre Iguodala, they may be without two of their best five players for Game 5. (In the Garden), I just think that our guys just feel comfortable and good. You know what it takes.
