Winter weather advisory in place for DeKalb County

The weather will be cloudy with a chance of snow showers in Will County Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. The snow forecast prompted the National Weather Service to issue a hazardous weather outlook.

A regionwide Winter Weather Advisory begins around 9 a.m. on Monday, through Midnight.

Snow was expected to start in the late afternoon and would be the heaviest overnight.

A snowstorm will cause interruptions to the Wednesday morning commute.

Overall accumulations are anticipated to be from a trace to just under an inch. Winds could gust as high as 15 miles per hour. For meteorological winter, Madison has received 11.3 inches, 8.4 inches below normal. Wednesday will be even colder, with a high of 31 and a low of 17. North wind around 5 miles per hour becoming calm in the evening.

Light snow will be possible areawide, with accumulations of less than 1 inch expected.

Overnight Wednesday into Thursday, the low should fall to around 15, with the same southwest winds producing wind chill values of 5 to zero.

Tuesday night: Clear with a low around 6.

Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 36. Roads may become snow-covered and slick soon after the beginning of snow, with temperatures below freezing on Tuesday afternoon and evening, January 16, 2018. Wednesday brings another push of cold arctic air, with highs only reaching the upper 20s to near 30. There will be a south southwest wind of 3 to 8 miles per hour. Most of Wednesday will also be below freezing with highs in the low to mid 30s.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny. Low 39. This all depends on how soon the snow ends, if the sky clears and if temperatures warm above freezing.

Rain and snow are likely for Sunday. The weather service says another big warmup is expected by the weekend, with a high of 45 forecast Saturday and 50 on Sunday.
