Conditions remained hazardous back into Montana, where travel was not advised in the town of Havre.

The snowstorm, which will bring a combination of ice, snow, and freezing rain throughout several states and the Great Lakes, is already leaving various states to deal with inclement weather and unsafe commutes. “Wolf Creek’s already plummeted into the teens from 46-degrees earlier”. Winds could gust as high as 22 miles per hour.

Snow is likely after 1 p.m. with less than half an inch possible.

In addition, more than a thousand flights were canceled at the city’s airports, and transportation agencies were warning commuters of the storm’s impact. The warning was issued from 9 p.m. Thursday through 6 p.m. Friday for Waukesha, Milwaukee, Walworth, Racine, and Kenosha counties. Expect sloppy road conditions heading to work Friday.

Temperatures throughout Macomb and Oakland counties are now in the mid- to upper teens with 17 degrees reported in Mount Clemens.

We’re still on track for more snow Saturday too. If the heavy band of snow shifts South we could still see 5 inches of snow or so. That will be followed by another storm tomorrow afternoon through evening, and then a third going into Saturday morning. “The worst of it should be finished this evening”.

Most school districts cancelled classes on Friday before any snow started falling, including the Chicago Public Schools.

“February is actually our driest month during the winter”, Cassell explained. Eight inches were reported in parts of northern IL and in New Carlisle in northern Indiana.

Several reporting stations in central and eastern Montana are reporting historic snowfall totals through the first week in February.

Van Buren County as already seen more snow this winter than nearly any other, and Road Commission Manager Larry Hummel says they will get the job done sooner with patience and cooperation from drivers.
