Huawei’s budget-friendly Honor smartphones make local debut

Huawei’s low-priced Honor brand on Thursday (Apr. 19) unveiled the Honor 10, a flagship handset that comes with one of the most colorful designs we’ve seen in a long time.

The Honor 10 has a design that’s similar to the Huawei P20, and, the back of the Honor 10 flaunts color scheme that’s similar to the Twilight model of the Huawei P20 Pro – a higher end variant of the P20.

Just like Huawei P20, Honor 10 has an all-glass body and iridescent finish.

For photography, Honor 10 sports a dual-camera setup on the rear which is a combination of 16-megapixel and 24-megapixel sensors. The selfie camera has a 24 MP sensor and an f/2.0 fixed-focus lens, which will be used for iPhone-like portrait photos. The Honor 10 has the Kirin 970 processor lying beneath a 5.84-inch Full-HD+IPS LCD display.

The phone also has a physical home button at the bottom of the display and a notch on the top.

The new Honor 10 smartphone is powered by AI 2.0 and comes with a dual rear camera setup placed horizontally.

Under the hood, the Honor 10 has a Kirin 970 chipset which has a dedicated neural processing unit.

The Honor 10 packs a 3,400 mAh battery with 4.5A fast charge over USB-C.

Earlier this year, Huawei unveiled the Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 Pro smartphones with best in class cameras.

The new frameless design with cutout screen in iPhone style X. Here’s a look at the top features of the Honor 10. These are dubbed Mirage Purple, Mirage Blue, but there are also standard black and grey options if this bling isn’t your bag. In software terms, the phone will run on Huawei’s custom EMUI 8.1 skin which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The camera app comes equipped with AI integration for scene detection.

The phone comes in two variants depending on the internal storage. The phone is already available to pre-order from the Honor site. The global availability of the handset is not known yet, but it will be available for sale in China across Huawei Mall and other retail partners April 27 onwards. These accessories will be available at aforementioned stores starting from 10:08 AM (local time) on April 27.
